This coming weekend, April 21st – 23rd, 2023) I will be attending RavenCon 16 in Richmond VA. This con is a little different than the rest that I’ve tried. I get in free, and all I have to do is give intelligent(?) opinions on several different topics. Specifically, I’m going to be on six different panels. If you’re in Richmond and you want to see me fly by the seat of my pants, come to RavenCon this weekend.

Breaking news!

I will be giving a reading of my book at 3 pm Saturday. I just discovered this fact on Wednesday night. To be honest, I’m a little nervous about this. Would it be rude to bring my phone and play the audiobook version? I haven’t updated my glasses in a couple years. I don’t know if I could read my own book. Oh dear, I’m going to let you get back to the post while I overthink this.

Saturday

4 pm     How Not to Think about Women Characters – Oh, this has a high possibility of ending badly for me. (Just kidding, I think.)

7 pm     Writer with a Day Job – Easy Peasy, getting me to shut up will be the challenge.

8 pm     Anti-heroes: an amorphous archetype – Did I get put on this panel because of my personality?

Sunday

10 am    The Medium is the Message – Apparently only one other person besides me wanted to be a panelist on this one. I don’t read graphic novels or play video games (from the 21st century anyway) and I don’t watch a lot of TV. Can I apologize in advance for my part?

1 pm      Moving at the Speed of Plot – I’m excited for this one. No info dumps or exceedingly slow “character development” sections. There, I’m summarized my thoughts in a single, succinct sentence. Satisfied?

2 pm      Mapping Your Novel – Yes! If you don’t like seeing a map in the front of your fantasy book, we can’t be friends.
